In the spring of 1978 at Boston's historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace, businessman Louis Kane discovered a bakery display showcasing a new line of ovens for the French manufacturer, Pavailler. Enchanted by the aroma of freshly baked bread and impressed by the quality of the product,
Kane had a vision “Why not make wonderful freshly baked bread available to the commuters, tourists, shoppers, students and residents throughout the city”…From this chance encounter, the Au Bon Pain urban bakery café concept was born.

Today, there are over 250 Au Bon Pain café's throughout the world. Operating in the United States, South Korea, Dubai, Kuwait, India and Thailand. Each cafe is situated in some of the most accessible corners of these cities, ranging from bustling business centers and well-known shopping complexes to hospitals and universities.

Au Bon Pain arrived in Thailand July 1997, and the first Au Bon Pain bakery café was opened at Sinthorn Building on Wireless Road. Today, over 40 Au Bon Pain cafes are in operation with plans for further expansions into urban and suburban areas.
